This book was disappointing, to say the least. I usually don’t read whodunnits because they’re underwhelming...but this one is extremely underwhelming...especially that one scene.
I became easily irritated after all the times Audrey commented on Thomas’s looks and how she continued to think she could solve the mystery even after admitting to all the clues she kept missing. I know most people loved Audrey for her feminist vibes, but to me I didn’t get those vibes from her. She didn’t seem strong to me, she seemed the type of girl that tries to be independent but fails and relies on the men to save her.

I enjoyed the plot of this book! Stalking Jack the Ripper is atmospheric, which I love because it has Euro gothic vibes. The only critique I have is of the protagonist Audrey Rose. She's strong willed and independent, all of which I respect. However, her character is emotionally juvenile. When Audrey Rose gets upset she exploits people's weaknesses and lashes out. Over all, great atmospheric read! And I'll be reading the second installment.

I really liked the writing style but sadly the story was quite predictable. I knew from page 40 who the ripper was, which made the book a lot less enjoyable.

Kerri’s first book, I think her writings improved very much. I know if I was the intended age for this story I would be inthralled, but I just wasn’t sucked into the story because of the intermixing of historical and modern philosophies and practices. Also, I guessed the plot twist early on

Overall I enjoyed this book and found it entertaining.

The couple of things I didn’t like were Audrey Rose’s stance on religion, and the “girls can do whatever boys can do” aspect of the book. There nothing wrong with having a book with female empowerment but I feel like I’ve read so much of it recently I’m kinda over it. I wish we could just have a strong fmc without having to push the gender war.

With that being said it did like the story and the air of mystery (even if I guessed who Jack was pretty early). I also like Thomas and how straightforward his is.

As always I’m so much worse at talking about what I liked in a story than what I didn’t like, so you’ll just have to take my word for it😂

I think this would be a good book for people who like historical fiction and true crime podcasts.
