This is [a:K.A. Tucker|4866520|K.A. Tucker|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1539903353p2/4866520.jpg]'s first book in this series and it's still very entertaining and captivating, much like her [b:Ten Tiny Breaths|15990969|Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths, #1)|K.A. Even so, I found myself loving Ten Tiny Breaths so much more than this one. The characters had nothing special about them, nothing that set them apart from other characters in countless books. The ending was rushed and insufficient. Either way, this was still fun and a great work by the author.

I will live and die for a K.A Tucker book. The way she writes and has the ability to tie things together is honestly so beautiful. PLEASE check trigger warnings before proceeding with this one. It touches on some very dark topics but in my opinion is soooo worth it.

I can honestly say I haven’t read a book quite like this one. I was unsure at first how it would all end up coming together, but hot damn did it. Not only is Water’s story inspiring, I really loved that this was dual POV (first person 🙌🏻). K.A Tucker did an amazing job of highlighting the emotions and struggles of watching someone you love go through abuse and trauma. I won’t give anything away but I will say that Jesse is a 10/10.

Can’t wait for to read the next book in this series!

Amazing contemporary romance in all the aspects. Definitely highly recommended! Can't wait the next book, though I hope it will feature some secondary character from this book with glimpses of lives of the main protagonists here.

I loved, loved, loves this book. I couldn't put this one down. It had me laughing and crying. It's about love, tragedy, and rising above adversity. The story is written from Water's POV (the now) and Jesse's POV (then). I was afraid it was going to be confusing, but it really worked, making the story even that much better.

Tried this due to my like of the wild series. It is told from 2 points of view: the past (Jesse) and modern day (water). I liked the modern day story, girl with amnesia gets taken in by a small town family, and tries to get back her memories. I had trouble with the past story because it had a lot to do with abuse and was just hard to listen to. The audio book reader probably didn’t help. I didn’t find the connection between the two main characters strong enough. Would have been better with some modern day story from Jesse’s perspective and some past perspective from water. It was an interesting premise and I appreciated the writing but probably won’t go on to read the rest of this series.

I don’t always enjoy the ‘back and forth’ between time lines, but that doesnt affect my rating with this book because as cliche as forgetting your memory and falling in love with the same person trope is, I love it and I think it was executed beautifully

First book recommended to me in 2019!

I liked this story a lot. It wasn't a thriller and it didn't have a heart-racing pace. There's an analogy in the story about truth being like buried water and no matter what you do, it will always find a way to the surface. The plot of this book is like that as well. There's nothing sudden, but page after page, more and more is revealed until you have all the pieces.

It was slow, but satisfying. I loved the characters; they each had a unique voice and motivations. This was more a tale of resiliency and peace in the day-to-day and coming to terms with who you are in your current situation, which I found to be refreshing.
