Very fun, fast read (~130 pages). Very reminiscent of the Frankenstein, deals with similar themes of scientific overreach and ethics. Thrilling and a pretty easy read for a “classic”!

Excellent! I'm really enjoying my reading through of Wells' work. This is the darkest story of his I've read so far.

Short but still meaningful. As much as this is a commentary on human nature and what at the time were recent scientific developments, it is a hint of the beginning of relating ethics to science. It is a big just because you can doesn't mean you should. Wells prose is great for a late 19th century writer.

Pas mon préféré. Assez glauque. Lu parce que j'aime beaucoup wells mais pas tous les wells apparemment ^^

The most interesting aspect of this novel was Wells’ thinly-veiled critique of religion; unfortunately, it was no “War of the Worlds.”

I'm a little obsessed with this one.
