I've enjoyed several of Christina Lauren's books but this one just didn't connect with me. I was so irritated by the actions, thoughts, judgmental attitudes, etc. of the two main characters that the awfulness of the reality show stars really didn't even need to come into my opinion yet. After 3 rants on my part before I even reached 15%, I checked the other reviews, found them to be right on and so I read the last 15% and returned the book to the library for the next unsuspecting reader. Good luck.
This book reminds me a cross between Chip and Joanna Gaines HGTV style gone wrong into alla Set it Up movie on NetFlix. While I did like this better than The Unhoneymooners, it was still meh. Some angst some cutesy stuff but still meh. It was lighter and fluffy read that I needed her writing style just has too much angst for me. 2.5 stars. Audio.
This book was good, but not as exceptional as other CL books. I really like the female MC, the male MC was good but again not exceptional. Their bosses though, don’t even get me started on that train wreck!
The one was a fluffy, easy, and super quick read. It was enjoyable, funny in places, and all in all witty but it was lacking something and I just don’t know what. The alternating perspectives and the use of different “media” sources helped carry the pace of the story. There was too much emphasis on some parts, not enough on others, and I felt like I was missing an inside joke until the very end when the main element/event was shared. Probably more like 3.5 starts than just 3. Overall, a good read, no reason not to read!
I enjoyed the two relationships presented in the book and how well-written they were to show how different they were. I also appreciated how Carey’s back story explained a lot about her decisions and how relevant that is for many people.
Having recently read (and not enjoyed) the Unhoneymooners, I had very low expectations when I decided to give Christina Lauren a second chance with The Honey-Don't List. This book is simple, yes, but it is SO much better.
The Bad:
1. It's shorter than my normal preference, barely hitting 300 pages.
2. The cover is ugly and the book's title is cheesy and doesn't match the content.
The Good:
1. These characters AREN'T obnoxious. They are normal people, and they meet their obstacles in normal ways. Their arguments don't consist of blowing trivial issues out of proportion.
2. It's a fun premise. Enough of a closed-door environment to make the accelerated character development seem believable, but also expansive enough to know that this couple wasn't forced into a situation where "of course they would fall in love - there's no one else around!"

I didn’t expect that twist at the end. Fun read!
