The way Gabriel Garcia Marquez can weave a tale be it fiction or real life events is unparalleled. This is a tale of the unyielding human spirit to survive against all odds. Anyone who enjoyed The Old Man and The Sea by Ernest Hemingway will probably like this one too. The magic of Marquez lies in the last two pages where he instills a heartfelt climax to a pulsating story.

Didn't realize when I got this at a book sale that this is actually the account of a real Colombian sailor who was lost at sea and survived. Marquez published these stories in the newspaper shortly after it had happened at risk to himself. Very quick and amazing read, but it was just ok.
