It was hard to connect with these characters, both of them. I just wasn't convinced about their feelings and how the story evolved. The angst was so overly there, that about 46% their relationship wasn't devoleped yet and they knew so little about each other but somehow they were proclaiming their love.
The only good thing about this book was Gage.
Another thing was the plot twist, just so obvious and bad.

Wowww I read this in one sitting. It’s dark and not very well written but it’s captivating and the twists really took me by surprise. I’m curious to see rest of the series!
My biggest turn off with this book was the author's writing. The incomplete sentences, the unending melodramatic inner monologues, the overdramatic sappy dialogue - it all really took away from the story and instead of enjoying the characters' story, the only thing I could focus on was how annoying the writing style was. And it's what made this book drag for so long, which wasn't necessary.
By the end I started skim reading because it was just page after page of barely any dialogue but a lot of overly descriptive paragraphs. If you can even call them that with the 1 or 2 or 3 words being dropped. It became repetitive- the constant description of feeling something "electric" or "charged" or "darkness" and "pure light" right at the start of the book. It made the story feel a bit unrealistic. Also the conflict wrapped up too quickly for me.
There was a lot that was revealed in a bizarre way that was barely touched on. Their story could've benefited from having another book but only if the first one was shorter.
Overall, I wanted to enjoy this book because I thought the setup was interesting, but the author dropped the ball with that writing style.
2.5 stars

This was one emotional read. My heart was breaking for all the characters. So much lost felt in this one. I had to stop once in awhile just for a breather. I got so invested in these characters. I was drawn to this one because it's a single dad romance. I'm not gonna lie Trent had me iffy about him in the beginning, but as soon as I saw him with his son all bets were off. Little Gage brought so much light to this book. He's so dang adorable. You can't help, but have a smile on your face when you read his scenes. Eden is a fresh breath breathed into the Lawson clan. She's the missing piece to complete that little family. It's not going to be easy to hurdle over Trent thinking he doesn't deserve her love because of his past. Plus someone won't let sleeping dogs lie. This book took me on many twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat rooting on these characters to find their happy. I would recommend diving into this one just be prepared for one heck of a ride.

One reason…
This story. Omg. Such emotions. Trent is your typical bad boy (man?). He is essentially hiding in Redemption Hills, CA with his son and brothers after leaving the MC life. He feels he doesn’t deserve good girl Eden when she interviews at his club for a waitress position. This story is absolutely beautiful in the way you want to encourage Trent that he is a good man despite his past sins and tell Eden just to give Trent a chance despite those past sins. There is a plot twist I did not see coming that shook me. I cant wait for the next two books!

The premise sounded amazing but I could not get into the writing at all. Insta love. Very repetitive sentences/phrases. Not my jam unfortunately.
The writing was terrible but the plot was pretty good
The kid was super cute
