Another series that I am now obsessed with and Book 1 kicks it off with a banger. Trent & Eden have undeniable chemistry & the romantic suspense plotline that is woven through both of their lives had me on the edge of my seat. I did not see the twist coming.
There's an opposites attract vibe and the banter that goes along with it is stellar. Trent cannot stay away and I love that Eden does not back down. The introduction to the Lawson brothers is perfect, giving a sense of their background, what drove them to Redemption Hills and gives some insight into the brothers that we'll be seeing in future stories. I also LOVED Tessa - Eden's best friend is a riot.

Really really enjoyed this! Trent is an ex biker/ now club owner, and Eden is a teacher at his son’s school. He’s a single father (who is so amazing with his son Gage btw). Someone is out to get Trent for revenge, and he’s trying to keep everyone he loves safe. He’s also fighting his feelings for Eden, because he doesn’t want to bring her into his messy life. I loved the build up of their relationship, but things were repetitive at times. The tension was so thick between them, it was so good!
The one thing is was obsessed with was Trent’s son, Gage. He was sooooo cute, and a funny little guy. His enthusiasm and energy was so contagious lol.
I’m excited to read Jud’s (Trent’s brother)book!

I picked this up because I’m a sucker for a single dad romance. However, I feel like this book took itself too seriously. It was too wordy and way too long. It tried to have that poetic prose, but it just came off as over the top. There were some things that I enjoyed here, but it didn’t outweigh the choppy writing and constant inner monologue we had to deal with.
Also, let’s call a spade a spade. This was insta-love. Even though the author had the characters deny it to themselves, it’s what it was. Now that doesn’t bother me, I love insta-love, but don’t exaggerate that it’s not when it is.
All in all, It was okay. Sweet at times, but my issues outweigh the sweet. The next book is about Jud and I did enjoy his character. Depending on what we get from the synopsis when it’s released, I may or not read it.

Dnf'd at 60% cause I realize I was just skimming it i was gonna force myself to keep going but I'm not wasting my time on this.
I absolutely was in love with this couple and their story! AL Jackson has such a unique writing style that flows with such perfection, each word packed with meaning and springing from the pages.
My love for Trent started at the beginning and grew and grew and grew. His loyalty to his family, his dedication to being a father, and his self-loathing made him such a powerful character (though my eye is on Jud and Logan).
Eden doesn’t let her upbringing or her innocence prevent her from connecting with the bad boy on such a soul deep level. I love that for her, their issues were never really about what he looked like or where he came from. I loved that she was a big communicator and an even bigger lover. She refused to be duped by miscommunication and she fought for the love she wanted by the Lawson men.

Give Me a Reason is the first book in the Redemption Hills series. I thought this was a really great start to the series and I loved that this was a bad boy, single father romance.
Eden has to beg for a job at Trent's club because she needs to earn money to help her father. She works for a private school as a teacher that her father runs, but they might lose it because her sister stole all her father's money. Trent did not want to hire her since she was such a good girl and he thought she was too good for his club, but she wins him over. She ends up being his 6 year old's teacher too, so they try to deny their attraction for a while. Trent and Eden are so drawn to each other and they had amazing chemistry. He escaped the MC lifestyle and is just trying to give his son the best life.
Let me tell you, AL Jackson wrote the perfect kid. I literally fell in love with his son Gage. This kid was written so perfectly and he stole my heart.
I really felt their connection and I thought she did a great job showing the growth of their relationship. They really communicated when they needed to and I liked how much Eden believed in him.
I thought AL Jackson did a phenomenal job setting up the 3rd act and twist. I was shocked, but I honestly didn't see it coming.
🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
The audiobook was narrated by Connor Crais and Desiree Ketchum. Their performances were top notch and I thought the both did an amazing job voicing my favorite character, Gage. The thing I realized is that I appreciate AL Jackson's audiobooks more than reading them physically. She does have a lot of flowery prose which can be more difficult for me to get into, but I love it in the audiobook format.

I enjoyed the story and I’ll read the brothers. The writing sometimes left a bit to be desired, for instance it’s ok to start a sentence with “the” or “I” rather than just “want to be that.” “Need you to…” etc.

Trent and Eden, two complete opposites who find themselves wrapped in this tug war of staying away yet craving each other attraction. When Eden shows up at Trent’s club refusing to leave until she gets the interview she was promised, he knew she didn’t belong, but he loved the fierceness and innocence of his “kitten”. Trent thinks his past defines him, makes him a monster that doesn’t deserve any good in this world so he keeps his distance as much as he can from Eden yet there is something about her that keeps drawing him back in. The push and pull between them is so tangible you can feel it in your bones while reading it. Eden is all that is good in this world, she loves hard, works hard, and believes in forgiveness and redemption where Trent thinks his demons will always haunt him, so he doesn’t deserve her. I don’t want to give too much away because this story is unique and epic in its own way. I loved the brothers, everything they worked hard for, the love they had, and the way they always had each other’s backs. At times the descriptions on some pages were repetitive or too much that I had to go back and make sure I was reading what I thought that it became distracting at times but once I got to it, I was fine. There is so many feelings in this story that I loved and kept me on the edge waiting for the shoe to drop and when it did, I surprised by some things yet guessed the others. Overall, this was a great start to a series I know I am going to love and can’t wait to see what is in store for us next.
