“You are the only thing that could make this evil heart go soft, and that's probably the most dangerous part of all. Fact you make me want to let my guard down. Give in when I've been given one thing to live for. Don't know how to live for two."

Hot dang! I did not see that plot twist!! First one from A.L. Jackson and it won’t be the last.

When Trent finds Eden in his club, waiting for an interview, he can’t believe his eyes. She sticks out like a sore thumb - too pure, too innocent, too

I like the characters and the story. I just forgot that I struggle to get through this authors writing style

The writing style is what did it for me. I liked Trent Lawson as a character, Eden, not so much. *yawn*… the constant inner monologues took up too much space as well as the descriptions of everything. It was just too much going on to fill up the pages. I’ll just have to read the spoilers to find out what happened.

If you are looking for a dark, gritty, I am broken and don’t deserve love type of story than this one is for you.

Eden is trying to help her dad from losing his church and school, so she goes to the local nightclub for a job as a waitress. Trent says no at first sight, the clientele will eat her up!

He eventually relents when he sees how desperate she is, but he watches over her. Trent knows he can look but he can’t touch, she is light and he is darker than night. His history tells him so.

However when Trent finds out Eden is his sons teacher during the day, he can’t escape her.

There is a push and pull that adds so much angst, and a slow burn that adds so much fire when they give in.

Trent’s son Gage was adorable little spitfire if a little too perfect but still adorable.

Amazing...

An amazing love story. With a dash of danger, a spoon of emotions and a whole bunch of steam. Not the smuttiest book I very read, but a good enough lead in that let's your mind finish it. I felt the sizzle and burn and push and pull of Trent and Eden. And sweet sweat Gage. Had some twists and turns that turned the book to a different level! Definitely recommend, especially since this book pulled me out of a 4 month reading rut!
