This books gives you more than one reason to love it š¤
Grips you from the beginning with the tension between the main characters, Eden & Trent. Trent is a broken single dad, with a darkness to him. Eden is a good girl, looking to make extra cash to help her father & his school where she teaches Kindergarten. When the two collide itās electric! With the sweet comedic relief from Trentās son Gage, you canāt resist. And the twist threw me for a loop but was so good!
This is a MUST read. Wish I would have read it sooner!

One of my very favorite single dad books to date. UGH!! Trent is everything. A.Ls writing is so beautiful- its poetic and lyrical (exactly how i prefer my books to be)
Trent and Eden have this delicious forbidden relationship, bad boy/good girl with ALL the tension and longing. Edens relationship with Gage is SO GOOD. Gage is honestly the star of the freaking show but I will save that tangent for another day, just know I LOVE HIM.
Trent is our broken broody man, an incredible dad, a loyal brother and the perfect protective touch her and dĆÆ3 MMC and Eden is our sweet, soft but strong, caring, and trusting FMC with the purest heart. I just love these two MCs so much!
The found family in this book is next level. I never want to leave this bubble of Redemption Hills.
LASTLY, can we talk about the plot in this book!? The suspense aspect of this book was SOOO good. Like jaw on the floor, did not see that coming at all. A top read of the year for me.
Im obsessed with these two and that is all <3
good girl/bad boy
protective mmc
found family

workplace romance

5/5 stars

This book could have been 4 stars but the writing felt choppy, almost elementary.
I agree with most that the overall message of this book is beautiful, and it had a lot of things going for it, but the flowery writing was so over the top that it actually pulled me out of the story so many times that I thought about giving up for quite awhile.
Iām glad I didnāt because the ending was great and even made me shed a few tears, but it was so long that writing style wasnāt my favorite for sure. I hope she tames that down in her next book, which I am interested in reading about the next brother.

TW ~ violence, sexual content
Trent is looking for a fresh start away from his past and to focus on caring and protecting his son. Eden is looking for a job to help her dad stay afloat. Both share a tragic past. Both terrified of love.
When I tell you I cried almost all the time while reading this book, I mean it. I was crying on every other chapter

Give Me a Reason is Book 1 in the Redemption Hills series by A.L. Jackson, and what a start it is!! This is the ultimate oppositeās attract, good versus bad story with drama, angst and oh so much heat!! Trent is a man who has lived in darkness and done terrible things in his fatherās world. He wants better for his family, now that heās a father. Then he meets Eden, the sweet and innocent Kindergarten teacher who has some secrets of her own. Can they outrun their pasts in order to build a stable future?
The world building in this series opener was excellent. Iām already emotionally invested in all these characters, and cannot wait to see where this series might end up. There was plenty of intrigue, deep connections, and blazing passion to keep me riveted to the book. And I must say, little Gage was a scene stealer! But envisioning such a virile, confident man as Trent be so loving with his son is one of my favorite things to see in books! This book is definitely a must-read! On to Judās book for me!āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

This is a 2.5-3 star for me. While I guessed one of the twists but the author set it up well enough that I was still like jaw dropped when I got to the reveal.
Unfortunately the overall writing was lacking. The over use of āgirlā or āboyā when the interests were referencing each other was annoying. Also the sentences seemed broken for 85% of the books monologue. āGirl didnāt even realize itā. Or when she professed her affection and his response was āwill ruin itā like that was the whole sentence. So that was annoying.
