This is definitely my favorite of the three so far. While there is a fair bit of bad behavior from Karen, the second half of it is expressly about apologizing and emotional intelligence (Karen knows she acted incorrectly and doesn't need to be told to apologize), so that's good.

What I liked the most was it having a heavy focus on Karen having positive relationships with her stepfamily. It's awesome to see scenes between Karen and Elizabeth, especially because Karen respects Elizabeth as her stepmom (and Elizabeth's word is taken as permission to do something, instead of Watson being painted as the only one whose opinion matters). Karen's relationship with Kristy continues to be sweet and this one has a scene where Kristy's brothers take Karen out for ice cream. I mentioned this when I appeared on a friend's podcast, but I really appreciate the BSC franchise in all forms for featuring multiple positive depictions of blended families, because that still feels like a huge rarity in media at large, not just for kids.

I read these as a kid and LOVED Karen. As a little sister to a strong-willed and smart older sister like Kristy, I found Karen so relatable.
The graphic novel version was so fun to read and M I still found the story delightful.

Luck sucks!

Bad days are always so difficult to deal with especially when you are younger but I am glad she realised it and with the help of the family turned it around. The apologies were a great touch that I really liked. It was fun and easy read!
