Omg the emotional roller coaster I went through while reading all 5 books was so real!

I absolutely loved the concept of these books but beware this book is extremely dark and goes into extreme detail about rape and murder.

Lana and Logan were so perfect for each other and the growth they both have was so amazing to read.

The thriller aspect of the book was so well executed and the major plot twist at the end of the last book was shocking and I was in disbelief.

My first and only complaint is that I wish this was all smushed into one book! But I also did like each cliffhanger and it built up the anticipation to hear the next audiobook in my case. Which, FYI, the covers used for the audiobooks are very misleading. There is a love story and there is some smut scenes, but the plot and all the crazy things happening are much more prevalent in this series.

Lana and Logan are certainly a mismatched pair. The way they meet by the offchance and end up on a such a horrific journey together, is so twisted but weirdly in the best way! I have to admit that as more and more unravels in what took place 10 yrs ago I started to get a bit confused with all the details and people involved. But the underlying revenge and outcome made sense, as much as it could in a situation like this, to make this whole series weirdly enjoyable. The way this author weaves together a love story with an active true crime scenario is mind boggling. Also, that epilogue!!! <spoileof The four of them living together in Greece, a cat named Bennett, Jake and Hadley together then Lana having her annual killing to rid the world of another monster! Absolutely twisted, amazing and just W O W!

LOTS of trigger warnings with this one and very VERY graphic details so tread carefully with this series if you are sensitive to blood, abuse and weapons.

Fuck, this series is perfect in every way! The characters, the romance, the mystery, the sex... It's all amazing!

I had a feeling the OG killer was Jake's dad but thought that would too dark (guess I had temporary amnesia about what story I was reading lol)

I'm gonna miss Lana and Logan so much! I feel like this would be a really great tv show, I'm thinking like a mix between Dexter and Bones.

Do yourself a favor an read this whole series. I couldn't put it down once I started.

  • I really enjoyed this series - I love how fast paced it was
  • I was unexpectedly welling up at the thought of Lana dying
  • I didn’t think I would side with Lana but I did, I just wanted her to avenge her own justice whilst living the future she deserved
  • Lana and Hadley were my favourite characters - lIved their funny bickering/banter and how they developed a friendship.
  • I wasn’t expecting Jake’s father to be revealed as the original killer, but thank god they included his surname because I would’ve not remembered who he was based on his first name alone
  • There were some characters I found hard to place and remember who they were
  • Gutted there won’t be a series because of the authors death

'Horror romance. That's a genre, right?'

Engaging series and well written, but torture justice is not my kind of genre I've discovered.
As I've said throughout the series, enjoyed the criminology and the complications of the FBI & secret, wanted vigilante relationship. I liked how it had me questioning the morals and justice of the whole situation Lana was in and what really was 'right.' Good characters, though was more fond of some of the side characters such as Hadley more appealing. I wish Lana and Logan's attraction had a little more substance outside of 'I don't know why and it shouldn't work, but I'm instantly attracted to you and now we need to be together forever.'

***MAJOR SPOILER***
Hard eyerolled at the end where Lana was given a criminal to torture once a year on her's and Logan's anniversary to 'subdue the monster within.' That just felt cheesy.

This book was fabulous! Reading it was so fun! Definitely my favorite in the series. I feel like almost everything transpired beautifully and the ending was very fitting! I almost teared up sometimes.😅

You kind of have to suspend your disbelief a little bit, because Logan's character kinda just flips a switch in the beginning. Like when he finds out initially he lashes out at Lana and has angry sex with her and handcuffs her to a bed because he's just so freaking upset. At that point, he believed that she was a proxy killer and then when he finds out she's actually Victoria Evans and she actually has a connection to the small town he just flips a switch, and all of a sudden his anger dissolves because he finds out Lana's not a proxy killer as if that supposed to make a difference or something; she's still killing people dude.🤣 I don't know. I don't feel like the author executed that part well.

But overall, I still enjoyed this book. I loved the twist.
I wasn't expecting the killer to be Jake's dad. Now THAT was crazy! I was trying to wrack my brain trying to come up with who it was.
Love the turns! And Logan and Lana's relationship SERVED in this book. It finally hit me (well, it hit in the last book too, but it really HIT in this book). I loved them after he found out that she was Victoria. He just finally stepped up to me and their love for each other finaly felt balanced out to me because everything was out in the open. Also, again, I absolutely ADORE Lana and Jake's friendship. It's literally the cornerstone of all the books and I love it and love them! Hadley and Jake were a nice surprise. I wasn't a fan of Hadley's character until this book and weirdly enough (as abrupt as it was) I really liked her dynamic with Jake. Again, really enjoyed this book! I think it ended appropriately! (I know the books were short but I don't know after reading the five it feels so weird to leave these characters; I'm gonna miss Lana) Also, I never mentioned this in my other reviews, but I like how much of a horror movie buff Lana is (as someone who loves horror movies, I found the references cool)

Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️/5

Note: So sad to hear about what happened to the author!🤧
