A collection of dark stories, definitely not for everyone but I enjoy the author's use of description and ability to scare the audience (e.g. me) as if it's being shown on a theater screen.

I will say though, I was disturbed by the description of child murder and I think the amount of pages dedicated to the act retracted from my overall enjoyment of the first story. At the same time, I don't have a background in Catholicism myself, so maybe someone with a better understanding of the act of crucifixion has more meaningful thoughts. But for me, I just felt it was excessive even for horror.

The first story was the most interesting and the one that left me more shook by the end of it, it has some good drops and it draws you into the story of these two women and their fucked up relationship with each other. The start intrigues you and you are just waiting for the other shoe to drop as they get closer to each other.

The enchantment was cliche at best and just dull at worst, didn't feel any type of connection to the characters and I found the narration lacking at times. It just didn't pack any punch, and while the concept was interesting (a religious family confronted with the fact that the afterlife has been proven to be fake) the execution was simply boring.

The last story I didn't even try to finish, the narration was much better than the last but I just didn't click with it and would rather just stop here.

Overall a very mid collection. If you want something quick to pick up during the day it's fine, not great

I wanted to love this book after all the hype but I'm so tired of authors who only put a cat in a story to be killed. It's been done to death, and it's done twice more in this book. Such a worn out trope was distracting and annoying in an otherwise creative story collection.
