I know that some people thought this book was pointless but I did not. Before is Hardin’s perspective for the book After. You also get some back story on Molly and Steph which helps to explain their attitudes. There are also things from Hardin’s perspective that helps you to see and understand things that happened in the other books of the After Series. I loved this book and loved the After Series.

I don't know if I should have read any of the others before this one (I didn't see anywhere stating that it's better to read them in order or not), but I just couldn't identify with the story. There were too many perspectives for me and everyone seemed miserable which isn't my cup of tea. It's not that I want everyone to be perfect and happy all the time, but they all just seemed really miserable and it just didn't keep my interest. Plus, I'm not into the teenage/young adult angst scene since I've been out of that age bracket for a while now.

I won a copy of this from a GR giveaway.

Okay so, I love the After series. But this? This wasn't it. I just felt that this was extremely repetitive and I was so bored. I was looking for new information that I didn't really get.. and I just don't see the purpose of this book. If you're thinking about reading it.. just don't. This is coming from a Hardin Scott stan. The reason I gave this 3 stars is because I love Hardin.. but I promise you that you don't need to read this.

I thought it ends but there’s more in the series.

While it was kind of nice to relive the After series, this book was unnecessary. It was basically a rushed retelling of the entire series from Hardin’s POV, along with a few other characters. The original series did such a good job explaining Hardin as a character that this book didn’t really add much to his story.

This was an awful experience but I am very happy to announce I have finally finished the shithole that is the After series. I only continued this because the series was gifted to me years ago and it feels wrong unhauling gifted books I had not yet read.

I have genuinely only rated all five of these books higher than 2-stars solely because they're so bad it's laughable. If you love them, great, I loved the first book when I read it ages ago, but they're not for me anymore!

I survived the great war
