This is my favorite book in the After series. I think that seeing the past of everybody in the series helped me understand them more, and I really really like it.

I wanted to read this book because I loved the After series and loved the later books due to Hardin’s POV. So when this book was about the events of the first book and before the events of the first book from Hardin’s POV, I was very excited to read this book.

Before explores Hardin Scott’s life before Tessa enters it. Before Tessa, Hardin was a raging storm. During the first few moments he met he realized he needed to keep her for himself like his life depended on it. After they got together, his world would never be the same again. Hardin and Tessa’s dramatic love affair became a vortex pulling in everyone around them. During this book, the other characters are given a voice as they appear, during and after the events of the events during the After series.

I enjoyed this novel as the Hardin’s POV was really interesting as well as the other characters that made an appearance. The first book in this series is my favourite of the series so I loved seeing the other POVs throughout this book and seeing everyone’s intentions during this book. I know this isn’t a healthy relationship but my emotions in this book when from wanting to drag Tessa away or from them to kiss and make up. I feel like I need a therapy session from this especially after the rollercoaster of emotions. I wanted to smack Hardin as well but after reading this book, I see why the boy was a mess.

I shouldn’t have liked this book as much as I did. Purely because of the anger I felt. However, I really did enjoy the storyline and I enjoyed the series overall.
