This book was so up my alley, what with alternate realities, body-switching, and speculative storytelling. This impossible thing happens initially, but the rest of the story is so human and reality-based that the "impossible thing" (body-switching) seems possible. This is one of the most emotionally accurate portrayals of relationships between partners, parents/child, and even between males and females presenting individuals in the world. Perfect pacing, and so many mini-stories tucked into the main story. I felt the closest to Eli (in Elizabeth's body) and Elizabeth's mother, whose POV we end the story with. There is sadness, hope, and a very sexy scene in a Paris museum.
The ending was quiet and perfect and left me emotionally moved. It was perfect.
A must-read. I can't wait to read more from Isle McElroy!

wow elizabeth and eli are so human and so totally fundamentally broken and so so extremely easy to relate to
makes me wonder if they body swapped with me too

Starts as thriller, then evolves into melodrama. Very good characterisation, though the world-building seems more dream-like than specific.

I have no idea what to think about this book. Great premise, good execution, super weird in parts. I’m pretty sure I liked it, but would I recommend it? Uncertain. Or at least only to specific people.

I was excited for this one after reading another from this author, but I feel like I didn’t really *get it* and I was a little bored
