This was great until the ending…it kind of felt a little rushed tbh, and wrapped up too quickly but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

It takes a brave woman to love a Ferrara man. Bravery has never been my strong point.

This is my first TL Swan book and it won't be my last. I was totally and utterly captivated by Enrico and Olivia's story. I read this book in one day (and it is LONG) which shows just how intrigued I was by this couple. There were twists and turns I did not see coming and an ending that made me smile and had me wanting more.

(Note: there is an overarching storyline that isn't wrapped up in this book but the romance side definitely is)

I cant really explain what I didn’t like about this book.
Olivia is originally from Australia but she went to Italy for a vacation and Enrico is a policeman working in Rome-I think it was rome-. They met in a restaurant. Olivia was reading the menu when Rico came to her and asked if she needed help reading-because the menu was obviously in Italian and she didn’t understand anything-. So he helped her, they got along really well, ate together and also went back to his apartment to have a little fun with each other. Rico’s Father and grandfather were murdered in a car crash and Rico found out the truth about his family. They were the mafia. At that point Rico and Olivia had plans to go out the next weekend but with the death of ricos grandfather and father they didn’t meet up and he ignored her. Two years later Olivia went back to Italy because of a job offer. She then had a date and surprise surprise Rico is in the same restaurant. Why? Well, he has been following her or more people who work for him had an eye on her. He even got her the job. Fast forward they are a couple but he can’t marry her because she’s not Italian and blabla he does anyway and they have kids.

To be honest I don’t really remember much of the book. I did, however, enjoy it but it was also kind of long.

The Italian- T.L. Swan

What better book to read while traveling in Italy? This was the perfect book for my mood as I traveled Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, and the island of Capri. The scenery and people were beautiful, the culture was rich, and the men were.... This romance is a second chance romance with a possessive Enrico who charms his way right into sweet Olivia's heart. This book is filled with great angst between the leads. They must overcome lies, family secrets, and betrayal. The book is also full of plot twists and made for an interesting and unique story line. My biggest complaint about the book is the conflict resolution does seem to drag on a bit. These two are feisty, stubborn, and hardheaded and although I love the great angst this creates between the two, their fights felt a bit repetitive and the story line became a bit choppy as it went from one action packed scene, a plot twist, conflict between the characters, and back again. The story did hold my interest and I fell in love with Enrico and his bossy ways as well as Olivia and her stubborn stand against his unmoving beliefs.

This book is great for readers who love a second chance romance that is filled with plot twists, is action packed, and has great sexual tension between the main characters. The story is filled with places from Italy and is rich in culture, sprinkled in the beautiful language, and perfect for those who dream of a possessive alpha male to sweep you off your feet. If you are traveling in Italy and wanting a romance read this is also the perfect book to set the mood.

More than anything, I am so bummed I didn’t enjoy this more. I loved Olivia and Enrico. I loved how they started. I loved how they had an instant connection. I loved their undeniable sexual chemistry. It was everything outside of their bubble that did me in. We started with a meet cute, and ended up in mafia territory. The mafia story-line was genuinely a great idea! I loved where it was headed, the way it came about. It just missed the mark for me. There was a lot going on with Rico. And because of it, it changed the story too much for me to enjoy it the way I was starting to. Rico was kind, caring, and so head over heels for Olivia. It was plain as day. There were sexy glances across the room. Dreamy sightseeing. Making her feel seen, loved, and appreciated. (I literally made the note ‘I wasn’t expecting to cry, but here I am. This is one of the most beautiful, most romantic things I’ve read) And he quite literally threw it all away and became a totally different person. And that time jump didn’t make me feel any better either. I took it just as personally as Olivia did! I was heartbroken for Rico. He was forced into such a terrible situation. I felt his rage; I was seething with him. It was how he cared himself and the decisions he made that just…this became something I didn’t want it to. I loved the way Olivia handled herself. She wasn’t afraid to let Rico have a piece of her mind. And after (too much), we finally have our sweet loving Rico back. But that mafia side of him is unrelenting. Even when he knows he’s hurting Olivia. And then chaos ensued, and new characters are introduced, and I fought to keep reading. If nothing else, just to see if Olivia FINALLY gets the version of Rico she actually deserves!

I was not expecting this.

I don't think I was expecting this to be an Italian mafia book. Not sure what I was expecting but mafia not that.

Its a decent read. I liked the romance between them overall. I was rooting for him not to be arrested which is funny really.

The whole illegitimate brother coming onto the sister was creepy and unnecessary. I didn't think that was explained well enough to be honest.
