This was a nice, pleasant read with some gorgeous descriptions of the Finnish archipelago, which I wasn’t familiar with and found very interesting. The relationship between Sophia and her grandma was incredibly sweet as well, and it made me wonder what my childhood would’ve been like of I’d had the opportunity to get to know my own grandparents.
On the other hand, I did feel like some chapters were a bit too monotonous and I kept getting distracted. The everyday anectodes were cute, but I wish more attention had been given to exploring the characters themselves. I would’ve loved to know more about the grandmother’s life, as the snippets we were given seemed to point to a very interesting, intense personality. I was expecting the overall tone of the story to be more personal than it actually was, so even though I’m glad I read it, I don’t think it will leave a strong impression in the long term.
