I enjoyed this book more than the first. Having two different points of view made it quicker to read and more interesting especially as they were so different.
Originally I thought this book was quite sensual and erotic. Unfortunately, Anne Rice's bizarre imagination dropped its rating for me. I was thoroughly disturbed by the "cats & butter" scene. After that, it admittedly took me longer to finish it that it would have normally because I just wanted no part of it. I think the most disturbing part of the book for me was Tristan's "pony adventures" and wearing a phallus for nearly more than half of the book. Sad to say it, but this is one trilogy that I neither want to know the end nor the beginning of. My trip with Beauty & Tristian ends here. Thank goodness.

Stockholm syndrome and bdsm madness!
Just more of the first but different setting. Instead of the castle, the village. If you didn't like the first, you wont like this one. And if you liked the first....
It's a strange series. Will never be a favorite. But I don't dislike it. Obviously... or I wouldn't have read the second book.
