3.3 AVERAGE

Not nearly as good as the first book in the series. Still, a fairly interesting read. I did not find this tale to be as steamy as the first: the 'horse play' was a little much and clearly not my thing, and this installment was a much slower moving story. It took a long time for me to care about the character of Tristen and what was happening to him. I only started to get the point of his storyline when it was contrasted with Beauty's perspective in his master's bed chamber. I will finish the trilogy, but I hope the 3rd is better.

OMG! Absolutely love this one. It took some getting used to The Charming of Sleeping Beauty, but book two... Amazing. I loved how it’s taking into both main character’s point of view. But still, if you are used to Anne Rice’s other novels, this will still shock the senses. So, the warning is still there.

Marginally better than the first book. But still not my cup of tea. Not much was new in this book that wasn't covered in the last book. A lot of humiliating sexual acts were preformed on the main characters. Tristan was the character of most interest for me and he is the entire reason that this book rates higher than one star. His character was written differently than Beauty's was and it made me come to like him and see him as an engaging character with... actual depth to him.

Overall a very repetitive book. There's a spanking, and then another spanking, and then another and another. There are only so many ways that you can write the thoughts of a character while they are being spanked. There are only so many ways to write a scene with a character who is being spanked.

For as much as I love Anne Rice, this particular series is not for me. I was able to get through the first book, but I can’t with this one. I’m not going to rate it, but I will say I think she writes so beautifully but this is not a good representation of that.

This book was very much like the first one in the series. The plot just develops a little bit more, but not enough to make the read very worthwhile.

I should create a "could not finish" shelf. This was just... whoa. I may have made it 3 pages in before I started feeling uncomfortable. I know I started skimming at least 3 chapters after that to see how the book progressed. I couldn't do it. I'm not a prude, but yowza!
