Grim, bleak, sometimes funny, and compulsively readable.
Brunetti always manages to find out the truth, but so often bumps up against corruption that means no justice will ever happen (although the meaning of "justice" in these cases is so often an abstract or senseless idea). I need to go and read something uplifting now...

What a disappointment this book was. I had read a few of the earlier Brunettis and enjoyed them, but this was so pointless that by the end I was just saying 'you have GOT to be kidding me, that's it?" There is no real resolution and precious little mystery to this tale. It rambled around so much that it lost my attention half the time, and then it went nowhere at all. I felt like I had just wasted a chunk of my time, which is the most annoying part.

Ok. Definitely going on break from this series. Love the characters but the mysteries are beyond frustrating.

I have really enjoyed most the books in this series until this one. Just wasn't my favorite. Moved slowly and had no real finish. Overall not very satisfying from a readers perspective. I will continue to read the remaining books in the series just could have skipped this one and not missed beat!

Uma narrativa de detetives muito contemporânea, na qual o detetive lida com preconceitos contra imigrantes, conflitos internos na própria polícia, e o acobertamento de crimes contra pessoas em situação de fragilidade. Complexo, e muito bom.
