More of a 3.5 stars
For me, this was the weakest of Harper's books so far for reasons I can't quite put my finger on. I think it could be that there were too many characters and Harper writes best for a smaller, insular group.
Still, a 3.5/4 star because Harper is that talented of a writer.

I didn't hate it...but I didn't love it.
I think this lacked a bit of the tension that Jane Harper's previous novels possessed. I had zero connection with any of the characters and l was often bored - I mean, it took me 3 weeks to read

DNF … This book didn’t appeal to me and I couldn’t connect with the characters. Returned early.
Slow burn, expected a big ending to a slow build up but it kinda just ends.

It is very slow. The mystery didn't engage me and I found that I wasn't interested in the story
