Pretty good until the end. It just stops!!! After all the build up throughout the whole novel going back and forth between the current happenings and those of 12 years prior, the reveal happens and then that’s the end. Unsatisfying!!

Love the atmosphere, making readers feel the place as well as the mystery. The sounds and smells of the sea are always compelling for me, and Harper did a fine job with that here.
This story is all about secrets and how they wreak havoc on families, friendships, and the lives of those holding them. This mystery was nicely done, leaving clues, but not treating readers like idiots, and not being as predictable as most (for avid readers).
The Survivors was my 1st Jane Harper novel, and I look forward to her others.

I liked this, but not as much as The Dry and The Lost Man. I don’t remember Forces of Nature and I feel like I won’t remember this one either. It wasn’t BAD at all- she’s SUCH an amazing writer. It wasn’t really about the mystery, it was more about Kieran as a character, and it really was quite good...but I was looking for a whodunit. Four stars. It really was enjoyable. I just don’t think it’ll stick much in my mind. Which is okay!! Not every book needs to change my life!! #engelbrechtreads2021 #engelbrechtreads
2.5 stars.
Not nearly as good as The Dry. The pacing was quite slow, and I found the reveal at the end to be somewhat unsatisfying. Not enough setup or signposting throughout. Too many loose threads at the conclusion. But it must have had enough good things in it to keep me reading until the end.
