This was wildly entertaining and adorable. Would be a good TV show. Marriage of convenience, two little rascals, sweet rekindling romance. The middle lagged a bit and I wish there had been more heat btwn Emmie and Will.

I couldn't fully get past the premise that underlay the book, which is that the main characters borrow some children from an orphanage to pull off their gambit to keep the mansion they've inherited, and then once the house is secured, the children will be sent to another, as-yet undetermined but nice, family to live there permanently. If I had been 100% able to get past the squirming wrongness of using children in this way --which I am sure some people could, because the genre is such that we all know it's not a guide for real life and that it's made-up and lighthearted and not about exploring the trauma of adoption and abandonment and instability and manipulation-- then I would have rated this book higher. I'll try some of this author's other books, because the amiable characters and the humor were enjoyable, and I know that if I'd been able to suspend all of my disbelief over the premise rather than just some of it, I would've been much more of a fan of this one.
