I had to finish the series. Some interesting ideas amid the vast quantities of really repetitive crap.

A solid ending. I think what I enjoyed the most were the glimpses into the different wallfolds. It almost seemed as if this book were a collection of short stories.

I have to admit, I got rather confused near the end what with all the timelines and duplicate characters. However, the story certainly was very original! In the end, it is the truths Card always writes about the human experience and desire to live that resonates most deeply.

A very "talky" and philosophical book akin to Xenocide.

It was interesting for a while, but the ending just kind of flopped. It also got bogged down with the nitty gritties of time travel.

I also noticed two errors:
Ram Odin responded to the exact words the mice were saying to Noxon even though he couldn’t hear them.

Noxon referred to seeing Deborah get killed as the moment when he realized that he loved her. Except... he never saw that because he sent a note back and erased that future from happening.

I had really been enjoying this series, and a good part of this book, but the ending was an over simplified let down, and there was less plot and more explaining about time travel.

I did not need sooooo much retelling from the previous books. This one was too lengthy and not thrilling enough for me to want to finish it. I honestly don't even care to find out what happens in the end. It just took way too long to get there.

Overall, I'd give the series 3 stars, but I'm not really sure that I'd actually recommend it to anyone - unless you want to read about people sitting around talking about the mechanics and headaches behind time travel, which is what happens in the last 2 books, and most of the first one, actually. I thought it was interesting, but not a book/series that I would re-read. The last book seemed rushed, and kind of summarized, which was probably good in the end, since a lot of nothing happens, until everything happens, but Card just kind of skims over the action.

5.0 out of 5 stars.

The third and final book in the Pathfinders series.

I'll admit, with all the twists and turns and jumps and leaps and changes, it's a bit confusing. But there was a much better outcome than I thought possible!

There is so much blathering in the first three quarters of the book that the climax is rushed and a bit of a let down.

Lost momentum, pretty sexist-- even with the mice? Not my favorite Card by a long shot.
