DADDIES
I absolutely adored the Dream Daddy video game. I’ve logged tons of hours, played most of the route, and love most of the dads Hutu I did go into this uncertain of what to expect.
This comic is a collection of short inconsequential stories involving the Dream Daddy crew, plus two that include the main character dad (in two different forms, I might add). The art style changes drastically between each chapter, coupled with the chapters having nothing to do with each other makes the transition from chapter to chapter really jarring and incoherent.
It’s not a bad read, just disappointing.

***I received a free eARC of this book from Oni Press through Netgalley. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, and all thoughts and opinions are my own.***
This is a collection of 5 comics set in the "Dream Daddy" game world written by different authors and illustrated by separate illustrators as well. It certainly gave each entry its own feel and style. I haven't personally played the game, so I didn't go in with a ton of context, but I have seen a quick play-through and have heard a ton about its humor and candid.
I went in with pretty high hopes after how adorable the first comic was, though maybe not as developed as I would've liked, but I guess that's what you get with each entry being an entirely new "universe." I was looking for cute rom-com/date scenarios, and I got some arguably cute stories but not the romantic plot-lines I was looking for.
I think people who have played the game and already have an idea of the dads' personalities will get more out of this because the comic definitely doesn't spend time developing anyone. Overall, this was enjoyable and not a waste of time, but I also won't be returning to it or keeping my eyes peeled for new installments.

Having never played the game Dream Daddies myself (but I have seen other people play and I am familiar with all the characters) I was really excited to read this comic. I didn't realize going in that each story would be by a different author and illustrator but I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. My favorite story was the last, Dungeon Daddies. As a big nerd, that story was fantastic! I loved the thought of all the daddies together playing a game together and hanging out. Each of the individual stories had their own nuances which I appreciated. I liked all of the stories and the artwork for each one as well. I would highly recommend this comic to any fans of the game Dream Daddies or just fans of daddies in general.
I was given the opportunity to evaluate this graphic novel by Leighton Gray; Vernon Shaw prior to its release. My evaluation of the book is in no way shaped by the publisher, but I am grateful for the opportunity to evaluate this book.
I opted to read this book based purely on the cover of the book with little to no information about the book or its source content at all. The book includes a number of short stories about gay dads and their children. However, the book itself is actually an extension of an online video game Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator. The graphic novelization of the video game takes some of the more popular characters from the video game and provides short stories about the "dream daddies." The book itself is really quaint and not at all what I expected based on other LGBTQIA graphic novels I've seen centered around similar themes. If I was providing this book an MPAA rating, it's borderline G/PG. Nothing in the book would be seen as overly controversial except for the issue of same-sex parenting and dating.

This was a lot of fun! I loved playing the game and this was just an added bonus. It was great seeing the different drawing styles and seeing all the Dads in new environments. Totally want to replay the game!
The Dream Daddy game was a force of nature at release and I, like many others, got swept away with the tide.
The choice for a comic book, considering the style of game makes complete sense. Seeing the different art styles from the various creators was really enjoyable and matched the characters personalities. My biggest issue was that I wanted more representation of the player character. While exploring the relationships and personalities of the Dads was interesting, it did put more of a wall between the initial story and these spin offs. However, I would still read any stories about the Dads that the creators saw fit to share.
If there was another comic in the works, I would suggest a choose your own adventure style for each of the dads where the reader took the place of the player character and worked through the endings like the video game. Of course, this may be nostalgia talking since I read many a choose your own adventure when I was a child.
Of course, any Dream Daddy stories will be welcome stories.

I got an ARC from net gallery in exchange for a review.
I felt this was a great addition to your collection if you like the game. All the dads are featured. 5 comics in all that complete the collection. My favorite was the second, with Damien and Robert.
