Rowling does it again

I was hesitant to read this for two reasons:
1) that it wouldn't live up to the Harry Potter name and
2) that it would live up to the Harry Potter name and I would go right back into the Potter withdrawal so many of us went through after Deathly Hallows.
I was right about the second reason. This was a truly beautiful tale with more twists and turns than I thought were possible in a story this length. My only recommendation is that if you are not familiar with reading scripts it could make the script a bit more difficult to follow.
Love it.

Really good, makes me want a timeturner so I can go back and watch the full play. But how did they pull it all off? It's confounding. I get why some people wouldn't like it
no real consequences,  mostly just callbacks to the books
but HP still takes up so much of my brain  and reading this in one day made me so happy.

I did not like this pandering fan-service. I did not.

Let's take the most unstable element from the original series (time-travel) and have the majority of a play's plot driven by it.

Let's throw in a million (let's be honest, lame) bones to fans and cringe-worthy twists and have characters not act like themselves. Also, since we're focusing on only a few characters in a massively populated literary world, there's only time to flesh out plot-driven (or fan-favorite) characters and makes things feel really half-baked. For instance, yes, hi, Harry and Ginny, you have three kids. I know, I know, it was hard for me to remember they exist too.

Book 7 and this, man, I'll just stick with fanfics. They posted these plots 10 years earlier.

saw this irl and read it after, loved how they changed it to include LGBTQ rep with scorpius and albus canonically together

I'm glad I read this. The writing is definitely not as strong as the books, and the special magic isn't really there either, but I still enjoyed it. If I don't compare it to the books but try to imagine it as a play, I really think it's good. Just treat it as its own thing and it's a nice, fun, quick Harry Potter fix.
