First a big thank you to Libro.fm for the ALC!
Wow. This was one of the hardest books I've listened to in a long time. It's heavy with triggers of SA, rape & suicide hotline. As a survivor there were moments I had to really pause before continuing. It's a short audiobook under 4 hrs and AJ Cook did an amazing job narrating!
It's starts off with a call into the hotline and our MC who answers ends up getting attached and gives out her personal cell to the teen who called.
You then follow the story of the teenager and her story; and our MC Felicia and the lengths she goes to help this mystery girl.
-
I will say that the end was predictable but it didn't take away from the story for me. If you can handle the audio I highly recommend listening to it.

This was my first Lucinda Berry book and so I wasn't sure what I expected, but it wasn't this heartbreaking book. While predictable, the story is well-written and the predictability didn't affect the novella. The narration by A.J. Cook and Tessa Albertson was extraordinary. It is a fast-paced, emotional thriller. Great intro to audiobooks and a great introduction to the author.

It took me a while to get through because I myself am an SA survivor. This was a great book that didn't go too far into detail about that assault which I appreciated.

Now, she spends her days writing full-time where she uses her clinical experience to blur the line between fiction and nonfiction. She enjoys taking her readers on a journey through the dark recesses of the human psyche. Her work has been optioned for film and translated into multiple languages.

SYNOPSIS: A suicide prevention hotline volunteer answers a call that turns her world upside down in this edge-of-your-seat audio original thriller by the bestselling author of The Perfect Child and The Best of Friends, performed by A.J. Cook (Criminal Minds) and Tessa Albertson (Younger).

REVIEW: This is a fast-paced thriller and is only available on audio. In a small Wisconsin town, single mother Felicia is a lawyer (by day) and a suicide hotline volunteer (by night). One evening, she answers a call from a traumatized & grief-stricken young girl who wants to end her life after a terrible event happens to her while attending an afterhours high school party. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. As always, please be sure to check all trigger warnings. This one deals with sexual abuse and suicide. I definitely want to read more from this author!

Happy Reading!

Whew it’s dark and heart wrenching. It’s short but well written, the two narrators really bring the story to life. Well worth the wait!
