Book 6 was a little boring to me. I feel like it dragged on and was not very entertaining.

Oof, if you needed a reminder that this series is a definite product of its time, look no further than the first line. The use of the word "oriental" happens frequently throughout this book, and at times was okay (as in an oriental perfume), and others was decidedly not. That being said, this was yet another decently fun romp with Nancy and friends, although not as much as the previous books imo. The mystery was a bit too convoluted, and while it does come together at the end, made little sense overall. I also didn't love George constantly poking fun at Bess for loving her desserts and being a bit heavier, including a line when Bess and Nancy have to carry George and she says "aren't you glad I don't eat as much as you do?" Honestly, i would've dumped her right in the dirt, and she would've deserved it.

So, all in all, this was a fun read, but there were some issues throughout that tempered my enjoyment just a bit. Not as good as the previous five I've reread!

I think I've hit a roadblock in my Nancy Drew reading--we're at #6 and the books are getting a little too formulaic and predictable... that said, the next one seems interesting so maybe I'll give it a shot. At least I can listen to a whole book in a car ride and there's a type of comfort that can be found in a predictable formula.

Cults, counterfeit money, crime rings, and cows in this installment of Nancy Drew. Vacation in the Wild West is over and Nancy and Company have kicked off their return to River Heights with a shopping spree. Girls will be girls! Little did they realize that a perfume purchase would launch them into an intrigue(and another vacation) in the countryside. Per usual, the group gets caught in a vicious thunderstorm en route to their location (seriously though, this has happened in every book so far). Nancy was described as “a bit awkward” at milking a cow and this is the first time she hasn’t been absolutely proficient at something. In the end though, she manages to solve the mystery...as if we had any doubt.

- The ending of this one was a bit of a surprise to me. I don't know why, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. Loved that!

- Nancy seems a lot older than 18. She just seems more mature, confident, and smarter than usual 18 year old.

- I loved that Nancy studied and learned how to decipher codes! She keeps adding new skills to her repertoire. I just admire her!

- I like that the police take Nancy seriously and value her tips and advice. They see her as a contributor rather than a nuisance, and it is just nice that Nancy and the police work together to solve these mysteries.

- I can't get used to a girl named George! I think she is a guy half the time.

- Even though the book was a quick and easy read, I didn't feel like the story was rushed.
