At first I was disappointed that it didn't have the main character from book one as the main character for this one, but quickly I realized how much I disliked Dee & how selfish she was & also how funny & cool James is. I liked this book
In the first novel of this series, James was one of my least favorite characters, so I really appreciated a book in his point of view. I thought he became one of my favorite characters, and showed one of my favorite things, character development. I thought Nuala was a nice addition, and her humanity coming through was a nice story. The action in this book was well-written, and I am looking forward to the next one!
Excellent. I cannot wait to hear more from Maggie Stiefvater!

Immediately I enjoyed this novel much more than the one preceding it. James was a significantly more believable and relatable character than Dee was, and made for a more engrossing story. I did think Dee's characterisation was much improved, however, despite having such a small role in this book. I'm glad I didn't drop this sequel after being unimpressed with Lament.

Ok, v hard to get into, first half was not good but the second half was ok
This was the sequel to Lament and this time it was told from James point of view which I LOVED. He's a great character, really original and a lot of fun. She managed to keep Dee's point of view in there in a really unique way but it only laid out a few of the puzzle pieces, not giving them all to you until the end of the book. Sullivan, the teacher was a fantastic character and I was surprisingly really good with the way he turned out. Again the faeries were pretty typical but the plot was different and interesting. The prose was beautiful and the characters were fantastic.
As with [b:Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception|3112850|Lament The Faerie Queen's Deception (Books of Faerie, #1)|Maggie Stiefvater|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41R67UplhtL._SL75_.jpg|3144132] (which you really ought to read before this one, because although this plot is mostly independent, the characters and set-up will make a whole lot more sense if read in order), I loved the snark. Here, the story is mostly from James' point of view, while Dee is more of a background character. The other point of view is that of Nuala, a sort of muse-fairy. It's still got the romance and drama, the undercurrent of fear, the can't-trust-'em fairies, the nerds, and the awesome quantity of snark. Some people might like these stories more for the fantasy elements, but I could care less - Stiefvater's characters, in all their nerdy, snarky glory, make for my favorite kind of light, fun reading.
