Reasonable rendition of the increasingly tired 'end of days due to an impending asteroid impact' trope. No new ground broken here but worth the short read.

Beautifully written but a little too slow for my taste

Haunting, beautiful, sad and full of such detailed, poetic writing that I really felt like I was inside the story.

I haven’t read anything by Veronica Roth yet, but this short story definitely make me want to change that. Right now. It’s truly amazing how someone can fit so much raw emotion into so few words. I’m also really looking forward to seeing how the other authors in this series treat their bite sized visions of the future.

I have been meaning to read a few of these Amazon Originals Novellas for a while as I have loved the ones I have read. Sadly, even though I am a huge fan of Veronica Roth this one was a bit lackluster and lacked a bit of storyline for me. I understand what Roth was trying to go for with reminding us that life is about the little things and the moments that stick with us forever even when we are facing death head on but it just didn't find its footing with me.

I think if this novella was made into a novel I might have enjoyed it better but I just wasn't a huge fan of how everything played out and I often felt myself drifting away from the story while reading it. I am not sure if Sci-Fi novellas are for me as the only novellas I have truly enjoyed have been literary fiction or fantasy.

I read this story second during my read through the Forward collection.

I liked this story. It was a bit slower; contemplative and poignant. But it was also compelling and interesting to watch the main character mourn for all the things soon to be lost when the world ends and see her grow from her determination to stay and witness the world die and die with it to making the decision to survive the end of the world with the belief that there will always be something more to discover.

It was honestly beautiful in its own way.
