Howl's Movie Castle was an unexpected adventure for our fmc Sophie Hatter, who was an anxious, introverted teenager who didn't like to stray too far from home and her family business of making hats— that I'd until she is cursed by a witch I to an old women and Sophie goes through mate than just changes to her physical appearance.

I love me a strong fmc, and Sophie was a delight! I loved Howl's reactions to her and how she constantly managed to provoke him. I found Sophie odd at first because she constantly talks to inanimate objects, but that becomes important later on. There are so many subtle nuisances in this story that I didn't catch or foresee until the very end when it was revealed.

All in all, it's a good fantasy book full of magic and adventure!

I really enjoyed the film in high school; it was probably my first anime movie. The first 100 pages of world building were fun and remininsent of the movie. The rest... Dragged. The characters feel like they step in and out without serving development, only w sigular purpose. There are a lot of weird reasons given for character motivations. "Why did she switch places?" "She was bored." Why did she leave the town? What was her plan, her motivation?

Theres one fight scene that takes forever and characters literally wander away it is taking so long. This is in stark contrast to the finale, which is very fast and also anticlimactic.

I really enjoyed this book. It was quite an entertaining read. I just don't think I'll think about it a lot. Hense why I rated it 3 stars. I really liked the character Calcifer, he was my favorite out of all the characters.
