Reyna was born a quad baby but none of her sisters survived. When she was five her father died of heart problems, and when she was in grad school her best friend passed away from a freak accident right before graduation. Before Marisa died Reyna slept with Marisa's boyfriend Liam and was hiding the fact that she was in love with him. She was never able to atone for what she did because of her friend's death and three years later is merely existing.
Liam who was in love with her was pushed out of her life and her former best friend's family has been haunted by Marisa's death since it happened. None of them truly ever finished grieving. Reyna has coped by sleeping with Marisa's younger brother Hayden and drinking with him. She considers him her best friend but knows their relationship is toxic and unhealthy. She takes a step to get her life back by getting a job at Club Taint and meets Frank there, the two of them becoming fast friends. She is also reunited with Liam who claims to still be in love with her and begs her for one weekend together with her so they can reignite their friendship. They end up sleeping together again and he admits he wanted that all along. She rejects him again even going so far as to hook back up with Hayden right after she returns home. Liam is gutted and Hayden is furious that she was with Liam and not long after Hayden tries to commit suicide.
Reyna finally decides she needs help and starts seeing a therapist and discovers she still loves and wants Liam but is it too late, has too much rejection caused him to give up on her.

I liked this book despite it being so very intense. I usually read romantic comedies, and this was definitely drama filled. I sympathized with Reyna a lot feeling like she wasn't enough and that she didn't deserve to be the one that survived. My heart still breaks for Hayden adn I am glad that he got some help, but also was glad he and Reyna didn't end up together. They were simply not right for each other. He didn't lift her up and challenger her in a healthy way like Liam did. I'm happy Liam found someone to be with after the events in 'A Broken Us' even though he did get hurt before things got better.

Received an advanced copy for Fallen for Books for my honest review.

This book is amazing. I've read all of the London Lovers series but this one is the best.
Reyna is a dark gritty character that makes you want to delve into her head and figure out all of her secrets. She is a brutally honest character that has never felt like she deserved to be loved and cherished. Her self-doubt and self-loathing makes you want to read faster so you can figure out what happened to this girl. What could make anyone hate themselves so much?
And then her story unfolds. And I cried like a baby. Her story is so heartbreaking and tragic you can't help but understand her feelings. You start to get her. You become so engrossed in her life, you get sucked right into the book. And then you can't stop reading.
You cheer her on and on the next page you want to smack the crap out of her. This book has all the feels. Every last one.
This book takes you places that you would normally shy away from. But the writing is so compelling and so intense you can't put it down.
This book is nothing short of amazing.
Tied for my favorite book of the year.
Amy I'm so proud of you for this book. Your writing has grown leaps and bounds from the first London Lovers book. Simply amazing

I am use to Amy Daws taking me on an emotional ride when I read her books. I know it going in after the first book I read but I honestly think this maybe the most emotional one for me yet. I say yet because of the next one I already started that's a companion to this one in a way and I have no doubt will be just as if not more emotional.
On the lighter so, thankfully there's also always a lighter side in these books too. I adore the friendship that forged between Reyna and Frank and feel grateful for it for both Rey and Frank.

ARC received for an honest review

I have read all of Ms Daws London Lovers series, so I was excited to read Not The One.

You can read this as a standalone, as they characters from the previous books play only minor secondary roles in Not The One - but I would still go back and read the others!

I knew from reading the synopsis that this was going to be a darker book than the LL series, but wow! It was so much more!

Reyna and Liam's story is not an easy one to read. It is highly emotional, taking you to the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, all within one rollercoaster of a story. As well as a story of love, it is a story of sadness, regret and guilt. Self loathing. But also of self discovery and learning to love oneself.

It is not a hearts and flowers kind of story. It is darker, grittier than all that. If you don't shed a tear at least once whilst reading, you are stronger than I am.

I felt a deep connection with Reyna. I have felt the self loathing, self doubt, the I am not good enough.

But all I wanted was for Reyna to find her way out of her mind and find her HEA.

I adored that we got more of the other couples from the other books, and that my favourite ginger, Frank, got a bigger part to play. I loved how this interweaved itself into the previous stories (but not so much that you have to have read them).

Thank you Ms Daws for a beautiful, heartfelt story. I can't wait for what you give us next.

This one is a hard one for me to review. Whilst its another Amy book, and was one that I sped through, I was not particularly a huge fan of the main characters. But with that being said, I don't really know if we're meant to like them at first.

Reyna, Hayden and Liam have all endured the same tragedy in the past, yet while Liam was a character I really liked, the other two were only just likeable for me by the end.

Reyna and Hayden are both very self destructive, and Amy highlights their struggles quite well. Reyna more so than Hayden, until we get to a certain point in the story, and we see his pain a lot more too. THAT point is the point where I knew - Hayden is going to kill me in his book (the next in the series, actually). Rey herself has a lot to work through, but her struggles show differently to Haydens and because this is her story we see this more clearly.
Liam was a poor innocent bystander in this one until the end, and the end of this book, the last parts are what really started to redeem Rey and Hayden in my eyes. But even so, I still don't know how I feel about them too much.

This is a much darker story than the previous London Lovers books, and certainly a lot darker than the Harris Brothers series, but it still fits well. Because the characters are all intertwined and know each others, these guys needed their story to be told. Any hey, these things happen in real life, and so its a glimpse into the other side - the side that not everyone experiences in their life. We all struggle, but some more so than others, and this really highlights that.

Whether or not I liked the characters, this was still a book that I was talking to my friends about as I read (they have read it in the past), and that I was so curious to learn how it would play out. It also set up the story really well for Hayden, and I'm very keen for him because I have heard so much. Not to mention thats where beautiful old Vi Harris comes into play.

Oh, and can Frank and Beans get his own book please???

I found the heroine annoying. The self hate/pity lasted too long. The relationship was okay but idk I didn’t get a lot out of it. I did finish it though that’s why it got two stars.

I actually liked this book. It's not as crappy as other books I've read in the NA genre. The characters felt sincere, and the plot was interesting. I might read more books in this series.

This book is a great read that showcases so much emotion. On one hand you have Rey who is suffering lost years upon years and doesn't know how to deal. Liam who is trying to reach out to her and Hayden who you want to hate but can't. The dynamic of loss at such a young age coupled with her mothers lack of emotion makes for an interesting read.
