This book is kind of trope heavy. Pretty standard "move back to small town to take over a loved ones business" story with a little supernatural occurrences and some family drama.

I was looking for a book that made me feel like Sarah Addison Allen, Louise Miller and Jenny Colgan books make me feel- and MIDNIGHT AT THE BLACKBIRD CAFE was it! ⁣

It is full of small town Southern charm and a smidge of magically whimsy. It’s a cozy, heartwarming story about family, forgiveness, community and of course- food! It was delightful. ⁣

And since I’ve been dreaming of pie for days you’ll have to excuse me. I’m off to round up some more blueberries to bake one. ⁣

This book has a lot to say about grief, family, and estrangement. It’s comforting & at times frustrating. There a some issues with pacing and plot threads that don’t seem to go anywhere but ultimately this left me feeling good.

Awesome lighthearted read about Anna Kates journey to Wicklow, AL to run her grandmothers cafe. There’s something special about the pies. They bring dreams from loved ones. A feel good story from small town AL. Awesome characters. Will read more by this author.

Having lived in a small Alabama town all my life, I was automatically drawn to this book. I fell in love with the characters and story immediately. I'll miss my time curling up with this book each day. Also grateful, especially in these times, that I live in a small town like Wicklow where people still love and support their neighbors.

“It’s kind of astounding isn’t it? How one split second can alter so many people’s lives?”

Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe was a heartwarming story about a broken family, a small town, and a touch of magic. I would describe it as cozy magical realism. Great book for people who like those kinds of stories.
