A great sequel! I love the bachelor and this book definitely has bachelor level drama in it. Once again, the concept is intriguing, and the plot is great. It was a feel-good read for me, that was hard to put down.
Loving this easy to read binge I’m on. This series has just has me wrapped around its lil finger. I felt like dystopian kinda vibes so this was a nice easy fit. Perfect.
But gurrrrlll you getting all jelly over the other girls. Like you have Aspen as well.
She really irked me sometimes and I wanted to slap her.
I do really love how the story is shaping out and the mystery of the rebels plus history.
I continue the binge. So far two books in 24 hours, so you could say this is an easy tune in and get lost in. I am still super enjoying it! On to book three!

This is the 2nd book in this series. In it Maxon, the prince, has to choose a wife from the 6 remaining girls. America, his top choice, also has to make a choice. She has to choose between the prince and Aspen, a boy she loves from back home. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) the prince isn't aware that Aspen is working for him as a guard now in his palace. I have to admit being very nervous many times as America snuck away to see Aspen in an effort to make her choice. I was waiting for her to be severely punished for doing so. I am not overly fond of books with love triangles. This one is tricky because I liked both choices. Except for my annoyance at the risks America was taking, I enjoyed it.
There seems to be more of an effort in the 2nd book to deal with harder issues. There are rebel groups attacking the palace and Maxon and America work to try to figure out how to solve the problem. I also came to really dislike the king and cheer as America found ways to thwart him and do the right thing despite him. I also liked her friendship with some of the other girls. Even though it took on a bit deeper issues it is still just a light read.

Damn girl, why you be so fickle??
I'm not gonna lie -- America's indecisiveness irritated the hell out of me here. And then when Maxon was all "I have to keep Kriss as an option just in case you decide that you don't want me", I was about ready to throw down the damn book. Let's be honest, Cass -- Maxon/America/Aspen are no Peeta/Katniss/Gale, no matter how much you want them to be.
And yet, I feel compelled to read the next book, if only to see the damn story through to the end. I mean, I know how it's going to end, because really, don't we all? But I'm at least a tiny bit curious to see how Cass spins it. Here goes nothing. Or everything.

This book was slower than the first, not much in terms of plot development.
i think this should have stayed as a draft.

The will they won't they doesn't have any real reasoning for her yo-yoing and its agrivating.
This book felt like a girl pulling petals off a flower only instead of saying, “he loves me, he loves me not” she is saying, “Maxon, Aspen, Maxon, Aspen…” There seems to be about that much sense and thought behind America’s waffling in this book. While The Selection was superficial and frivolous it was still enjoyable. The Elite just grated upon my nerves. The plot felt contrived. It felt like things were happening because the author couldn’t think of another way to make her main character change her affections (again) so she forced her supporting characters to do things that did not seem congruent with what we know about them.
In this book the process of The Selection continues. Prince Maxon must choose his new princess in the style of The Bachelor. America must choose between her first love and her new love. Sound like the plot of the last book? That’s because it is! Nothing new happens here. Because I cared for the characters already the book was able to keep my interest. There were a handful of adorable scenes between the girls and between Maxon and America. But mostly it was a lot of angst. The rebel attacks almost felt like an afterthought. They came and did disruptive things but it mostly felt like a setup for more in the next book.
I am hoping the next book, which I think is being titled The One, has more going on. 2.5/5 stars.

Marginally better than the first book. The narrator/main character is inane, and I like the way another reviewer put it - she's got repetitive boyfriend amnesia, where she is crazy-in-love with whichever boy she's with, and has completely forgotten her feelings for the other as soon as he's out of the room. I am going to read the third book with the hope that a plot twist that has presented itself could be true, but am not holding out hope. If it's not, I may be tempted to write a letter to the author to let her know just how she could have written a better book.
