Stephen King

Loved the audiobook, with it being narrated by Stephen himself, it felt like he was lecturing me in the best way possible. Also the ending qna with his son Joe Hill was amazing! Their banter was very heartwarming.

Although he knows this fault, I can’t help but bring it up. He’s constantly likening his writing preferences to absolutes, absolutes every aspiring writer should follow. If you’re a fan of King and want to write like him or learn his process, then by all means, read it. But to the rest of us, still read it if you wish because it never hurts to learn more about a fellow writer’s process.

I have never read Stephen King before, and I think I am going to start. I really appreciated his direct casual style. He has really profound advice, but doesn't over complicate his explanations. I felt like I was having drinks with him at the bar as he told me the tales of his past and advice in this book.

While I think the basic advice applies to any aspiring writer, Stephen King definitely has a recipe that works for him. I don't think all aspects of his approach will work for me, but I appreciated learning about his process.

Somehow the message to just keep writing is better communicated here than other books on writing. While I have heard this advice before, after reading this book I believe it.
