Es como estar sentado frente a un viejo amigo en el cual confías. No es perfecto, pero sus consejos suelen ser buenos, y eso es lo que lo hace tan cercano como mágico.

Contains some pretty good advice for writers. Did not read the last two sections, however, so I’m not sure how those parts hold up.

I loved this book. King is such a great storyteller, and somehow he makes writing itself a story. I admit that my affection for this book may be in part a sense of validation that comes from knowing that my process is similar to King's (though I am a lot slower and have a lot more drafts). I wish I had read this book much earlier in my foray into fiction, but I think then I would have tried to meticulously follow the advice, and maybe that would have made the book more of a manual rather than a memoir. I don't know. I loved it.

@booksaresick inspired me to finally take this one from my TBR and I'm glad. It's 50% a candid and often amusing memoir and 50% advice for writers. I'm not a writer, just a King fan but the advice felt like I was allowed behind the scenes. It satisfied a curiosity I didn't know I had.

This is a highly rated book, and I can see why. The first part is semi-biographical, but King gets into specific writing advice after that. I'd recommend it for anyone who even occasionally puts pen to paper (or finger to keyboard).

great even if you don't plan on writing

he names the pitfalls of fiction writing to warn aspiring authors, which makes you a better reader as you learn to pinpoint the reasons you do/don't like certain books. I can now give a dozen reasons why the adventures of amina al sirafi felt off
