I’m not sure how this book has an average rating of only 3.4 stars because it’s SO GOOD. I devoured this book in two days. I picked it up because it was marketed towards queers with religious trauma and this is exactly my demographic. There’s magic, spice, love, queer romance, enby awakening, strong parental love, familial trauma, religious trauma, people uprising against an oppressive system, and a diabolical cliff hanger. Can’t wait for book 2

I was sucked into this book right away! It’s the perfect story concept for queers whose awakening was Esmeralda in the Disney movie. The author sometimes “tells” when they could just “show”, and that can throw me out of the story for a moment. But the characters are lovable, and I am so happy to nonbinary characters as powerful main characters!
