Super interesting but lengthy and detail stricken perspective from a former President.

Absolutely phenomenal! A fantastic mix of anecdotes and self reflection. Obama does a great job of giving historical background to fully contextualize the events that happened during his first term. His ability to plainly explain complex economic issues like the housing crisis was particularly refreshing. I’m a sucker for a political memoir and this was no exception.

I LOVED THIS. I do not typically like books like this but hearing about the life and experiences of President Obama was incredible and I would happily read more from him.

I am so sad to have finished this book. It is over 20 hours long on Audible and I was engaged the entire time. It took me about 3 months to listen during my free time.

I learned some little things I didn't know about his presidency and big things were clarified. I liked that it was personal but not a conceited story. He talks with candor about his staff and other people he had to engage with. Not in a rude way but in an honest way that I felt was very relatable.

After reading Mrs. Obama's book I felt this was a wonderful balance and continuation of that book.

I love this man so much, I wish he could come and run the UK. Read this book, it will make you understand so much more about the last decade. It also gives an insight into the rise of Trump and how much the media are to blame. We need to stop clicking on articles about hateful people because it gives them a platform, us all laughing at Trump before he became president contributed to his becoming president.

Obama comes across as kind, sensitive, decent, intelligent and humble in this account of his first term in office, and the book explains a lot about why some decisions had to be made and why some comrpomises were reached. I really think it's one for everyone with any sort of interest in politics or America.
