1. I loved this outing with Strike and Robin!
2. DO NOT START THE SERIES WITH #4! START FROM THE BEGINNING!
3. What a narrator. The story is wonderful but Glenister's accents simply elevate the whole experience. Wow. I'm tempted to go back and re-listen to nos. 2 and 3 (I re-listened to #1 while waiting for #4 to come out!) all over again.
4. Characters, development, settings. . . . all wonderful. I have to ponder the denouement (I'm an English teacher; I get to use snotty language sometimes) a bit: a LOT unfolds there, and I was listening and trying to find quiet things to do around the house that didn't take thinking about, so I probably missed a bit. However: wow. Deftly plotted. NOT as explosively terrifying as #3, which had me pulling my car over to calm my nerves in broad daylight, but still: compelling.

Very twisty turns. At times I felt this book was overly long. Okay most times I felt this book was overly long. But I still was intrigued to keep reading it and enjoyed it a lot.
Thrilling and satisfying
I greatly enjoyed the plot, as well as the wonderful detail in which it was rendered. I was dismayed by the gore in the second in this series; I was glad to see the back of it in the third, and glad it was relatively absent from this one.
There are some spine tinglingly scary moments, on the other hand, that were delightful.

I'm not sure what didnt work for me here. It was too long, too convoluted and I just didnt care.
I continued to fall in love with this series with this book. The crime, as almost always (exception being book 2), was full of intrigue which I greatly enjoy. However, I love how the characters are developing - both as individuals and their relationship with each other. I was excited to see I sincerely hope that as the series progresses that characters beyond Strike and Robin will be developed. I can't wait for book #5!
