I find Emma to be a charmingly flawed character and I liked watching her growth and maturity through the book. There is so much dialogue about mundane daily details that sometimes it gets a bit slow, but much of it comes with a sarcastic undertone that pokes good-natured fun at the characters. It is quite funny as well. The line that sort of ruined it was
Mr. Knightley telling Emma he had loved her since she was 13.
Also the classism and misogyny of the time is frustrating. But it’s a classic for a reason - worth reading and analyzing this clever illustration of this period in England. I do prefer Pride and Prejudice more, however.

This was my first Jane Austen book. The language does take a while to get used to, but the intricacies of Austen's work are definitely worth reading! The humour and wit behind many passages makes for an enjoyable reading experience. The main downside to this book was how the plot is all character based, and a lot of gossiping which is interesting to an extent but I did get a bit sick of. I ended up loving Emma as a protagonist, though somewhat rude at the start, she had a great personality and I loved her relationship with her father and her
friendship turned romance with Mr Knightley.
Mrs Weston and Harriet were some other favourites.

Till now that she was threatened with its loss, Emma had never known how much of her happiness depended on being first with Mr. Knightley, first in interest and affection.

La verdad me gustó mucho, fue interesante ver como Emma iba reflexionando de lo que decía o hacía, tuvo un buen desarrollo de personaje. Creo que Jane Austen nunca decepciona al crear personajes con personalidad y particulares.

I would just watch the 2020 film instead because there's no child grooming and age gap in that and it doesn't do Harriet dirty
