Setting this book in 2004 is a confusing choice for a YA book. There are many nuances in the artwork that help set the time period for those of us who lived during that time, but many teens were infants/not even born during this time. I enjoyed some aspects of the story, especially the artwork, but many teen readers could find the transphobia, deadnaming, and homophobia upsetting and damaging. I think this should have been an adult graphic novel memoir.

None of the characters were likable, I am so confused by the story, there was too much happening. Skipped to the end to see what the "big reveal" was and I'm even more confused.
