A pretty decent kids' adventure story, with lots of action and intrigue. It bears a striking resemblance to James Bond films for both good and bad reasons. The spy stuff is fun but I felt a bit uncomfortable with the villains that conform to stereotypical ethnicities and the henchman with a grotesque physical injury. Not that these things are wrong as such but maybe a bit lazy to fall back on well worn tropes. (Though the Prime Minister being a mean bully that was educated in an expensive private school seemed oddly on the money.)

I think I would’ve enjoyed this a lot more if I read it when I was younger, but it has action and involves a teenager becoming a spy which I know I wanted to do when I was younger. Will continue with the series.

I had put this on my TBR then i had taken it off because i thought the book would be too much for me. Then i get my summer reading log from my school and it ended up being on of the books on the list so i decided to give it a read. The book was ok to me, im morw of a fantasy reader. But the reason why i gave it two stairs is because i was originally going to give it three but after reading about the most boring reason to be a villain i was dumbfounded and deeply annoyed. It reminded me of the phineas and Ferb movie were Doof goes. “Are you kidding me? Thats it? That’s your major backstory? Dude i was raised by ocelots, really central American ocelots! My parents didn’t even show up for my own birth and you tell me all you did was loose a toy train?!” Exactly how i felt.

I first read this series when I was about 15. I reread this and love the book. I think the idea of a young spy is something that isn't done that often and I think her it is written it very well. I like how it plays on James bond like ideas
