This book is pretty simply and plainly written compared to some of the other books in the series, (it makes sense) but definitely worth reading all the books

My sister forced me to read this….

*And I’m not kidding*. She was relentless and didn’t let me finish a book I was enjoying💔 so I  gave in.

To my surprise, I found that this was actually quite an interesting, action packed spy novel. The plot was engaging and I couldn’t fault the writing - it was humorous as well as easy to read.

However it was slightly stereotypical that the main villain is
Middle Eastern and an enemy of the UK
. 🙄 In fact, I’m pretty sure there’s also
an Arab terrorist
in one of the later books in the series…

Maybe I wasn’t obsessed with it as my younger sister is but I understand why she loves this series. I think the difference is that I’ve just outgrown it.

TL;DR: Thrilling, easy to read spy novel!

The only thing I really remembered about this book is the same thing that stuck out to me on re-read, which is the Game Boy Alex is given with different cartridges serving as different spy tools. The story itself was kind of lackluster, but not too difficult to follow.

After watching the Alex Rider TV series, I thought I’d dive into the books that brought it about. While I have so far enjoyed the TV series more, I found this novel to be very entertaining, fast-paced, and action-packed. One thing I applaud that the show did better than this book is to make Alex a bit more human. He was paranoid, made mistakes, and had real relationships. On the contrary, at least in this first book, he seems more like a lean, mean, fighting machine with every wit and know-how for every situation. He’s too perfect in the book. But I am glad that there was more explanation about Ian Rider (than in the show). Overall, it was a great, quick read and I look forward to the next books.

Started and finished date - 25.05.25 to 27.05.25.
My rating - Three Stars.
This book is action packed and it was okay read also I think people who like siege by Chris Ryan, I'd tell you I love you, but then I'd have to kill you by Ally Carter or close protection by Eden Victoria would like is book. The cover of book was okay and The writing was both easy to read and easy follow also the ending was fine. The paced of plot was well structured and steady paced. I like the characters but I feel at they flash out bit more also I think the TV show did better job at developing and flash characters out.
