The action in this book interested me in a way most only movie's do. The pictures had me vividly imagining the character's every feature. "Stormbreaker" was a book about a... fourteen year old boy who was athletic and witty. His uncle, a banker, is often away on business. When his uncle dies Alex Rider has an extreme change in circumstances. He learns his entire life has been a lie and the first truth he learns is the true career of his uncle. It seems to Alex that his uncle's employers wanted Alex in the family business. But Alex just wants to get one thing straight, he is not a spy and he never wanted to be...

This was a bit of a fun read but frankly for me that's the best I can do.

Now I must say up front I don't think I am the target audience so this wouldn't have massive appeal for me, but I can see it being a real favorite for those in the YA category or anyone who loves James Bond style stories

This is quite 'every teenage boys fantasy' which will make it gripping and exciting for some, but I personally don't know enough to care about the CC's that a motorbike can do. The writing style is easy and fast paced to match the action contained in the narrative and the audio book version is brilliantly narrated.

I wont be reading more in this series, but if you do like an action based spy story then check this out because I don't think you will be disappointed

Hate to give it such a low rating. Maybe I've been reading too much Literature with a capital L lately that I haven't been able to enjoy this as much as I could have had I just gotten off a 39 Clues spree.

First off (and you can hear the bashing begin already, but I'll try to keep it short) I didn't really like how there wasn't much emotion. I felt like the plot was kind of cliche. Or at least the salient parts of it. For exaaaample . . . .

Villain: I have you now! You have fallen into my trap! Now let me proceed to explain what my plan is now that you'll be dead.
Hero: *escapes with entire plan*

I mean, seriously. Come on, Villain. Pleeeease don't tell me you've never heard of all this stuff happening in books or movies. Nancy Drew? Hardy Boys? There are so many other books that this has happened in that I can't even remember them all. (In fact, I don't even want to remember them all. I want to save my precious brain capacity for remembering other things, like where I put my earbuds.)

Also, yes. It was an action book. But please, can this main character show a little emotion?

And Alex Rider is kind of OP. Granted, he's got a self-imposed ban on killing people, but he's still OP.

Okay. No more bashing, no more bashing. (See, if I continue, I'll end up saying "This book disgusted me and I will never so much look at anything made by a person named Anthony again" or something outrageously exaggerated like that.)

But really. I liked the book for what it was, and maybe I'm not its intended audience anymore. Maybe I should move on to Da Vinci Code or something like that.
