I think I am in a space in life where my “lens” just needed a bit of refocusing to appreciate what I have/what is around me/etc. I didn’t even know what this book was about but it was available on kindle so I went with it. It def put me back in a space I needed to be in.

A retired math teacher gets left a house by an old friend, who was barely even a friend. It turns into an otherworldly adventure/mystery/self healing/discovery.

I see this story didn’t get some got reviews but it was exactly what I needed and I enjoyed it.

I think Matt Haig is just very good at capturing what it is to be human.

imagine asking your old high school teacher for some advice and getting a crazy ass schizophrenic sounding tome

this was a slog and I wish I had dnf’d. way too many math analogies — aside from being a math teacher the only other character traits of the protagonist are depression and self pity

at least Joanna Lumley read it to me
medium-paced

Sometimes I can predict which song will play next just by thinking about it really hard and I was dreaming about John Denver when my husband woke me up and told me John Denver was dead. Multiply that by 50 and add a little Freddie Mercury and you have this book. Personally, I don't think that anyone can read a cat's mind. I am pretty sure cats have anti-mindreader superpowers.
