Gotta say, it does live up to the kid hype. Very entertaining, a very quick read. This book sells itself, but if there's a reluctant reader out there living under a rock & has never heard of this series, get them to read the first page & they'll be hooked.

It's not really bad, it's just not as funny as the rest.

I am helping to moderate a children's book club this summer and this is the boys' first selection. While I bought some of this series for one of my sons, who was completely delighted by Gregg Heffley, I had never read a book completely. I get why he is such a popular kid and why the boys want to read about him, but I am not the audience or a fan. Part of this is that the book is told from his perspective and Gregg is very good at not taking responsibility for his bad behavior and mistakes. I can't wait to see what the boys think. Is Gregg Heffly their hero? Or is he just a little too naughty?

Sort of pointless. He is so...I just don't like the main character. Is his name Greg? I forgot...

Just finished reading this installment with my 10 year old. I'm not even sure why I'm giving it 3 stars. :(

I found a lot of things I could relate to during the summer in this volume.

Read it first when I was about 7, re-reading it again at 16. Strangely enough, I could relate to Greg to most of what's happening to him in this book.
