A slow burn romance, so-close-but-so-far love that is prey to the machinations of courts and in a race against time as the world crumbles without a solution which their union could provide.
It ends on a cliffhanger, so you'll need the sequel for any sort of closure, but I'm looking forward to it. (tomorrow! Yay!)
Normally 5 stars is for something I know I'll reread. It's probably closer to 4.5.

I was squealing from excitement the whole time, i havent felt that way about a book in a while! Instant 5 stars.

When the plot twist happened in the middle of the book- I was PISSED. I didn't want a miscommunication trope. My worth is higher than this.
Then, I DNF and my mind kept going back to the excellent world building and the dynamic characters
I sucked it up and I'm so glad I did. The characters are perfect. The interesting magic system??? Fantastic.
I never give 5 stars but when I am ordering a pizza for my family so I can read instead of making them dinner then it's a pretty damn good book.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. There is a lot of world building, but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. However, it did mean I had to really try with the first half of the book as the story doesn't really start moving - but I devoured the last 200 pages in one morning.
All of the characters were enjoyable to read about and there was something that felt unique about this book as well. I thought it was going to be an easy skim, but I have to say I’m invested in what’s coming next.
All in all a great set up for the next instalments which I will be reading.
