I finished reading this, which is the only positive thing I have to say about it. The setup for this is so damn promising and while it ends at a HFN point rarely has a book made me so angry.

This book hits on a personal pet peeve of mine where one or more characters try to save face by refusing to ask a single question or offer a single explanation that would resolve the entire plot. Truly if either love interest (especially Ryker) in this book were a fraction more emotionally mature the whole conflict wouldn't have happened. If either of them had a single brain cell it could have been solved the first time they met after being separated.

 Oh boy.. I like the premise - the whole rejected mate, groveling alpha MMC, strong alpha FMC but it could have been executed a bit better. Also it needs some editing for the typos in it.

There is a vampire best friend who may have feelings for the FMC in the book with whom the FMC lives with and I kept thinking that it sounds familiar until I realised it reminded me of the Mercy Thompson series.

The only thing that kept this story going was miscommunication. I still don't understand why Ryker couldn't tell Gem about Trish. Probably cos if he cleared that up from the beginning then there would be no book. But he could have easily mentioned it after they reconnected but nope! He just never cleared that misunderstanding until the very end, no matter how many times Gem brought Trish up.
