So the saving grace of this book was the characters. I love these characters and they make it very easy and fun to read. 

However, the plot and world building all feel like they had pretty big holes. Some felt intentional, some just felt like we are missing things we should already know.

The ending is tense and dramatic and makes me very eager for the next one. And I did definitely enjoy this. But I think it's a weaker book than the first in the series.

This honestly might be my favorite book by Helen. I loved the Legends series, but Ashes is even better. Wren has to be one of my favorite FMC of all time. Great story. Great plot. Great characters.

Damn I was not ready for that Helen kind of tension and that is to say, TENSE.

We went from fake marriage that had me like 😍, to fake marriage that had me like 😵‍💫.
I am surprised Torj and Wren didn't burn everyone else with them as their story plays out.

I love Torj, but if I'm going to burnt by anyone, it's gotta be Wren. 
She is fierce, complex, independent, flawed, intelligent and has quite the badass knowledge of plants. My kind of woman 😏

Consider me obsessed with this series and simply dying for Silver & Smoke to come out!
