This series is spectacular! I highly recommend!

I like the main character and the main story, but the side story of her friend and sister and the stupid love triangle story was annoying and drama that made me want to stop listening (audiobook).

Fantastic up until the end thus only the four stars. She better not leave my love birds like this cause uhhh it's causing me emotional distress and quite frankly I'm pissed.

I didn't love the first book, but for some reason I couldn't help but read this one. It was way more entertaining! The story was better, more things happened, and there were some great new characters introduced like Madame Lefoux, the sexy French inventor that wears mens clothing and may or may not be behind all these shenanigans. Not enough Akeldama in this one, but they were ableto throw insome new nicknames really quickly in the beginning. If you were in any way into soulless, check it out.

India's bookstore bookshelves are strange. I often find the second, third, or fourth book in a series on the shelves one week--never the first--and often find none of the books a week or so later. As such, when I found the store lacking a copy of Gail Carriger's Souless, BUT chock-full of copies of Changless, I picked it up lest it vanish the following week!

Boy, do I NOT regret that decision!

While not a stand alone book, Changless is an entertaining read nonetheless. Carriger has gone to great lengths to create a world that is part steampunk, part urban fantasy and wholly believable in regards to both the Victorian era as well as the supernatural. Furthermore, the characters of the story, particularly the newly minted Lady Woolsey, experience joys, triumphs, and difficulties (both "human" and "supernatural") the the panache and aplomb of carefully constructed "real" characters. As a result, these characters are easy to relate to--who hasn't had problems with family (so what if yours happens to be the "normal" kind and not a pack of wolves)? Who hasn't had problems with

My only reservation about this book is the cliff-hanger. Yes, I know the cliff-hanager is a device used to keep readers coming back for more. However, it is a device best used at the end of chapters vs. the end of a book. Stories should be self-contained (all the Harry Potter books were, as are the Dune book, the Hunger Games, Anne of Green Gables--catch me drift here?).

However, that said, I'm hoping to find the first book at the bookstore and am contemplating ordering the third.

ALEXIA MY LOVE, A TRUE QUEEN ALPHA BADASS.
Also,
OH
MY
GOD.

Rolled right into reading this one after finishing the first one, and up until the end I enjoyed it just as much. The last event/twist made me very angry, and knocked a full star off my rating because it pissed me off so much.

The story in this one is interesting yet even more outlandish than the first, and involves actual espionage and a trip to dreary Scotland. Most of the story I found interesting, although the subplots amongst Alexia's sister, friend, and the valet were more of a distraction and annoyance than anything that was value-added. I loved all the new steampunk toys and ideas in this one, especially the special gun, and had a lot of fun thinking about the "science" underpinnings of this universe.

I particularly liked how Alexia maneuvered Conall into his last dinnertime action; although the point that he had to be manipulated was a bit annoying. After that, however, is when it all went off the rails in a spectacularly bad fashion and just about ruined the whole thing for me. I don't understand the reaction, I hate the "I love and trust you BUT OMG YOU MIGHT HAVE BETRAYED ME I CAN'T LOOK AT YOU WITHOUT KILLING YOU" trope mightily, and overall just blech. Not sure how this is going to be resolved without some seriously repentant groveling.

Similar to the first, this is a PG-13 to maybe a mild R. I'm reading the third book, so I suppose there is that, but I'm still annoyed.

This series is delightful! I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.
